Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and operate carrier-grade VoIP switching platforms (e.g., MetaSwitch, BroadWorks, or equivalent)
Lead software releases, upgrades, patches, migrations, and feature activations across production voice networks
Engineer high-availability architectures, redundancy models, failover, and disaster-recovery strategies
Perform deep SIP/SS7/RTP call-flow analysis to troubleshoot routing failures, call quality issues, and signaling defects
Own Tier-3 technical escalations, including complex outages, interconnect failures, and customer-impacting events
Work directly with vendors on defect analysis, patch validation, roadmap planning, and performance tuning
Define and maintain engineering standards, MOPs, and operational runbooks
Support SBC configuration, SIP trunking, interworking gateways, and VoIP/TDM interconnects
Analyze traffic patterns, perform capacity planning, and engineer solutions for growth
Integrate voice platforms with IP networks, OSS/BSS systems, and provisioning workflows
Support 911/NG911 services, numbering systems, and regulatory requirements
Develop and track engineering KPIs for uptime, latency, call success rates, and SLA adherence
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and operations teams
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or equivalent experience
10+ years of hands-on experience in voice or telecom engineering
Strong expertise in VoIP and signaling protocols: SIP, SS7, RTP, codecs, QoS
Proven experience with MetaSwitch, BroadWorks/BroadSoft, or similar softswitch platforms
Experience with Session Border Controllers, SIP routing, interconnects, and peering
Strong understanding of Class 4 / Class 5 switching architectures
Experience with large-scale migrations, cutovers, and live-network troubleshooting
Familiarity with OSS/BSS provisioning and billing systems
Knowledge of telecom security, fraud detection, and SIP security best practices
Comfortable supporting after-hours maintenance windows and escalation rotations
Preferred
Experience with cloud-native voice platforms, NFV, containers, or microservices
Exposure to IMS, VoLTE, VoWiFi, or 5G voice architectures
Experience integrating legacy TDM and modern IP/cloud voice networks
Background supporting multi-site or geographically distributed networks
Relevant telecom, SBC, or cloud certifications
