Workforce Development Specialist
Allies In Caring, Inc. is dedicated to supporting individuals through workforce development programs. The Workforce Development Specialist plays a crucial role in helping participants explore careers, prepare for employment, and transition into the workforce by providing coaching and facilitating readiness activities.
Responsibilities
Conduct recruitment for all WFD programs
Build relationships with partner agencies, high schools, training vendors, and community organizations
Participate in outreach events and represent the workforce programs externally
Screen applicants for eligibility, readiness, and program fit
Complete intake documentation and establish individualized goals with each participant
Coordinate enrollment to programs, and provide support, and education navigation when applicable
Provide 1:1 and group career coaching focused on job readiness, milestones, and goal-setting
Support participants during training, job shadowing, and on-the-job learning phases
Conduct regular check-ins to assess progress, address challenges, and ensure retention
Communicate regularly with training providers and instructors
Support logistics for shadowing, OJT placement, and classroom assignments
Ensure participants understand expectations and program requirements
Track participant attendance, milestones, certifications, and progression
Build and maintain relationships with employer partners
Match participants with appropriate job opportunities, internships, and work-based learning experiences
Support scheduling and coordination of interviews and placement activities
Maintain accurate participant records within SAGE and other required systems
Document milestones, services provided, progress notes, and outcomes
Participate in team meetings and provide updates on participant status
Work closely with the Life Skills / SEL Coach, IT Instructor and Clinical Team to provide holistic support
Communicate participant needs, concerns, and barriers as they arise
Ensure smooth coordination between WFD programs, and skill-building services
Qualification
Required
1 to 2 years of experience in workforce development, youth programs, career services, case management, or similar
Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is required
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to build trusting relationships with youth and adult participants
Hands-on, organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities
Valid NJ driver's license and ability to travel
Preferred
Experience with community outreach or employer engagement preferred
Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Excel, and online reporting platforms (IGX/SAGE preferred)
