Responsibilities

Managing fleet operations, which includes coordinating vehicle maintenance, assigning vehicles, tracking usage data, supervising personnel, and ensuring compliance with regulations
Serve as a central point of contact to schedule and direct operations, relaying information between drivers, commanders, and other personnel
Manage vehicle logs, maintain driver licensing and training records, and ensure all vehicle records are up to date
Ensure timely and safe delivery of personnel, cargo, and equipment to support mission objectives and operational readiness
Act as a liaison between military units and other organizations, like the General Services Administration (GSA) for vehicle fleet management
Focuses on the transportation of cargo, equipment, and personnel, often involve managing a fleet of vehicles and ensuring adherence to transportation regulations
Manage the scheduling and dispatching of vehicles to fulfill the transportation needs of various departments or customers
Coordinate daily operations, prepare and submit reports, and serve as a liaison with higher commands and external entities
Assign and schedule vehicles to meet unit and customer needs, ensuring efficient utilization and conservation of resources
Manages the daily operations of the motor pool, including dispatching vehicles and resolving issues
Ensures the fleet and operations adhere to Army regulations and directives related to maintenance, usage, and safety
Acts as a point of contact with higher-ranking managers, soldiers, civilians, and external organizations such as the GSA Fleet Service Representatives
Supervise and direct the work of motor pool attendants and other assigned staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient operations
Oversee routine safety inspections, and minor repairs to keep vehicles in good working order
Drives and operates vehicles and equipment that requires a Class A CDL to include tractor trailer combinations, utilizing a variety of semi-trailers and other vehicles to transport personnel, materials, merchandise, and equipment between various locations
Works directly with Heavy Equipment Operators
Performs other duties as required to complete the assigned mission

Required

Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and maintain for the duration of employment, without special restrictions
Must have HAZMAT, Tanker and Passenger endorsement
Must have five (5) years of continuous driving experience at YPG operating one or more of the following: heavy trucks (such as dump trucks or tractor-trailers), heavy equipment (such as bulldozers or excavators), or tactical military vehicles (such as armored personnel carriers); or seven (7) years' experience operating commercial over-the-road (OTR) vehicles or military tactical vehicles
Professional and effective oral and written communication skills to interact with staff, management, and other departments
Ability to lead, delegate, and motivate a team
Must be knowledgeable of principles and practices of automotive and mechanical preventive maintenance
Skilled in office software and maintenance record management
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with staff and the public
Must have ability to analyze situations and make reasonable and quick decisions
Must have extensive knowledge and understanding of equipment-operating characteristics, capabilities, and limitations and one whose competence in this skill has been demonstrated through training and experience
Must demonstrate the ability to train junior drivers to conduct basic operator-level maintenance, such as checking tire pressure, inspecting brake systems, and servicing vehicle lights
Proficient with managing accurate records of driver mileage and trip tickets
Extensive knowledge of relevant safety standards, hazardous materials, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, and state and federal transportation rules
Comprehensive understanding of equipment and vehicle technical manuals and specifications
Must pass a pre-employment drug screening, DOT physical and periodic retests
Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks assigned
Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions including summer temperatures peaking around 120 degrees Fahrenheit
Must meet the physical requirements necessary to perform operations outlined, performed, and stated in the SOPs for the Maintenance Division
Must be capable of climbing up and into large vehicles up to 10 feet high
Must be able to lift 75 lbs. unassisted
Must be able speak, write, read, and understand English
Must have a well-mannered customer service attitude
Must be willing to cross-train in other areas
Must use “down-time” effectively to the benefit of test, self, and company
Must demonstrate motivation, initiative, and reliability
Must be adaptable, flexible, and able to adjust to new or changing instructions
Must have a demonstrated ability to follow instructions and company policy
Must be able to deliver quality products to the customer and be responsive to their needs
Must be safety and security conscious, complying with rules and policies
Must be able to work, day or night shifts as necessary to meet specific test missions
Must be able to travel
Must have a clean driving record
Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed, sometimes on short notice, to support test missions
Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance prior to employment and maintain security clearance for the duration of employment
Must have dependable transportation and a dependable means of communication
Must be a U.S. Citizen
