Responsibilities
Tax return preparation – prepare tax returns and workpapers for individuals, business, nonprofits, and employee benefit plans, etc. including extensions
Client communication – interact directly with clients to obtain necessary information, clarify questions and communicate tax return filing status, etc
Audit support – assist the team to contact the IRS and other reporting agencies to resolve tax issues/notices, like preparing Power of Attorney
Compliance and reporting – work with seniors and managers to ensure all required tax returns and forms are filed accurately and timely, and maintain accurate and organized workpaper for internal documentation and future audits
Qualification
Required
Have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 at the time of applying and must maintain at least the minimum GPA upon graduating and starting with the firm
0-2 years of related tax experience within a public accounting firm in industries such as financial services
Be working toward or have an undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting, and/or an undergraduate or graduate degree with sufficient course work to achieve CPA certification upon passing the examinations
Some exposure to federal income taxation and to state and local tax
Have advanced written and verbal communication skills
Have a strong dedication to teamwork
Be able to exhibit integrity within a professional environment
The successful candidate must assume enough credits and/or actively pursuing the appropriate credits for the CPA examination
