8+ years expBeacon is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and run the backend platform responsible for delivering scalable, high-performance analytics to large enterprise customers. This engineer will build and own the core systems behind advanced causation and insight generation, spanning data pipelines, distributed services, and customer-facing APIs.

Design and implement scalable backend services and APIs capable of reliably processing very large marketing datasets
Architect distributed systems that support significant growth in data volume and customer demand
Optimize databases and data models to enable complex analytical queries at scale
Build resilient data pipelines that convert raw marketing data into actionable insights
Partner closely with frontend engineers to define clean, efficient API contracts
Establish backend engineering standards and mentor other engineers on best practices
Qualification
Required
8+ years of backend engineering experience with meaningful ownership of production systems
Advanced Python expertise (FastAPI, Flask, or similar frameworks)
Working familiarity with Node.js, including the ability to read and contribute when needed
Strong database fundamentals, including PostgreSQL, data modeling, and query optimization (experience with Elasticsearch a plus)
Solid system design skills across distributed systems, scalability, and performance optimization
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP) and modern DevOps tooling such as Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD
Ability to turn ambiguous requirements into clear technical designs
Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills
Experience in early-stage or fast-growing environments with evolving priorities
Proven success building scalable APIs and data processing systems
Background working on data-intensive platforms and large-scale data systems
Experience collaborating with frontend teams on API and interface design
Preferred
Exposure to AI/ML infrastructure or analytics platforms
Experience with stream processing technologies (Kafka, Kinesis, Redis Streams)
Familiarity with lakehouse architectures (e.g., Iceberg) or ELT pipelines
Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to engineering culture
