Augmented Reality Software Engineer - Medical Devices

The company is seeking an Augmented Reality Software Engineer to design and develop AR solutions that enhance shoulder arthroplasty planning and surgeon workflows, requiring collaboration with various teams and adaptability to evolving requirements.

Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain augmented reality applications for medical device use, with a focus on shoulder arthroplasty workflows
Rapidly implement design changes and feature enhancements in response to clinical feedback and evolving product requirements
Collaborate closely with R&D, clinical, regulatory, and product management teams to ensure solutions align with surgical and usability needs
Develop AR solutions using platforms such as Unity, Unreal Engine, ARKit, ARCore, or equivalent frameworks
Integrate AR applications with 3D anatomical models, CAD data, medical imaging (CT/MRI/XR), and surgical planning tools
Support internal testing, validation, and refinement of AR applications in lab and clinical environments
Participate in onsite evaluations, surgeon labs, and limited field support as needed (up to 25% travel)
Maintain high standards of software quality, documentation, and version control while working on accelerated development timelines
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
Expert-level experience in AR/XR software development including incorporating AI
Strong proficiency in C#, C++, or similar languages commonly used in AR environments
Hands-on experience with Unity, Unreal Engine, or equivalent real-time 3D engines
Deep understanding of 3D graphics, spatial computing, and real-time rendering
Proven ability to work in fast-paced, high-change environments with tight deadlines
Highly flexible, adaptable, and solutions-oriented mindset
Full-time in-office position onsite in Addison, Texas
Preferred
Previous experience in the medical device, healthcare software, or regulated industry environment
Familiarity with medical imaging data (CT, MRI) or anatomical modeling
Exposure to FDA-regulated software development processes (e.g., IEC 62304)
Experience working with AR hardware such as HoloLens, Magic Leap, or mobile AR platforms
