Manufacturing Engineer/Quality Manager

Confidential company is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer/Quality Manager responsible for improving manufacturing processes and ensuring product quality. The role involves hands-on collaboration with machining, inspection, and leadership to drive efficiency and compliance with standards.

Responsibilities

Develop, optimize, and document machining processes for CNC and manual operations
Review prints, tolerances, and specifications to ensure manufacturability
Create and maintain routers, work instructions, setup sheets, and process documentation
Support new product introductions, including tooling selection and process validation
Provide support to the sales team through the quoting process by establishing, cycle times, tooling costs, equipment costs, labor expectations etc
Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions
Collaborate with machinists to improve cycle times, scrap reduction, and throughput
Evaluate and recommend tooling, fixturing, and process improvements
Drive the quality systems and ensure compliance with customer, industry, and internal standards
Maintain inspection procedures, control plans, and quality records
Conduct first article inspections (FAI) and support PPAP/APQP activities when required
Investigate nonconformances and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions (CAPA)
Interface with customers on quality issues, audits, and corrective action responses
Coordinate internal audits and support external audits Lead annual IATF audits, insuring 100% compliance of systems to standard
Perform Gage R&R’s, capability analysis, and all other quality data analysis as required
Train employees on quality procedures, inspection methods, and best practices
Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Kaizen, 5S, etc.)
Analyze quality and production data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
Ensure gage calibration and measurement system effectiveness
Promote a culture of quality, safety, and accountability on the shop floor

Required

Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience
Experience in a machine shop or precision manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of machining processes, GD&T, and blueprint reading
Hands-on experience with inspection tools
Working knowledge of quality systems and corrective action methodologies
Data driven decision making and the ability to identify, initiate and perform any/all forms of data analysis required to drive to root cause and corrective action resolution
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

IATF, ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 experience
CNC machining knowledge (Swiss screw machines, mills, lathes etc)
Experience in small batch or high-mix/low-volume manufacturing
Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma training
