Responsibilities
Direct all operations of the Infection Prevention and Control Program
Lead annual risk assessments, goal-setting, and program planning
Maintain continuous readiness for regulatory surveys (CMS, Joint Commission, State Health Dept.)
Ensure compliance with reporting requirements from:
CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services)
CDC/NHSN (National Healthcare Safety Network)
State and local public health agencies
Monitor the accuracy and timeliness of mandated infection reporting
Oversee surveillance processes for healthcare-associated infections (HAIs)
Direct the collection, validation, analysis, and interpretation of infection control data
Identify trends and recommend corrective or preventive interventions
Provide infection prevention guidance to clinical leaders, physicians, and staff
Participate in quality, safety, and performance-improvement committees
Support outbreak investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action planning
Develop and deliver training programs on infection prevention, standard precautions, and regulatory compliance
Ensure competency assessment for staff in infection control practices
Maintain and update infection control policies and procedures to align with CDC, APIC, OSHA, and CMS standards
Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement throughout the organization
Qualification
Required
Master's degree in Nursing, Education, Epidemiology, Public Health, Clinical Microbiology, or another health-related field (Required)
3–5 years of clinical experience in a healthcare environment (Required)
2+ years of experience in Infection Prevention or Epidemiology leadership (Required)
Current national Certification in Infection Control (CIC) – Required
Strong understanding of infection prevention principles and epidemiology
Proficiency with CDC, AHRQ, CMS, TJC, OSHA, and NHSN standards
Skilled in data analysis, reporting, and performance-improvement methodologies
Excellent communication, leadership, collaboration, and presentation skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain regulatory readiness at all times
