Responsibilities
Advise trading and commercial teams on natural gas marketing, hedging strategies, and deal structures
Draft, negotiate, and interpret commodity trading agreements, including NAESB, ISDA, transportation, storage, and asset management contracts
Support risk management programs, ensuring compliance with Dodd-Frank, CFTC, FERC, and other regulatory requirements
Collaborate with risk, credit, and compliance teams to develop and enforce trading and hedging risk controls
Provide legal counsel on market rules, pipeline tariffs, capacity rights, and credit/collateral matters
Assist in structuring transactions, managing contract performance, and supporting M&A activities related to natural gas assets
Develop contracting standards and templates to improve efficiency and risk management
Qualification
Required
7-10 years of legal experience, preferably within natural gas trading and midstream industries
Expertise in natural gas industry standards, market trends, and regulatory frameworks
Expertise in drafting and negotiating commodity agreements, including ISDA, NAESB, and capacity contracts
Strong knowledge of natural gas pricing mechanics, basis risk, and financial trading operations
Demonstrated ability to handle high-volume, time-sensitive projects in a fast-paced environment
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
Familiarity with ERM programs and trading systems workflows
Clear business judgment, problem-solving skills, and a growth-oriented mindset
Preferred
Experience with LNG, upstream gas supply agreements, and interstate pipeline regulation
Knowledge of hedging for power generation or retail gas providers
