Communications Products Specialist - Veteran Direct Care

The Communications Products Specialist will support the development of high-quality briefing materials and training documentation for the Veterans Health Administration, translating complex content into clear communications for various stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Develop and maintain high-quality slide decks and briefing materials for VACO and VAMC audiences, including leadership briefings, program updates, and implementation guidance
Translate policy, research findings, and program operations into concise, visually clear presentations tailored to technical and non-technical audiences
Ensure consistency of messaging, formatting, and branding across all briefing products
Develop implementation materials such as field guides, fact sheets, FAQs, process flows, job aids, and reference documents supporting VDC and CSP programs
Edit and format written content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and compliance with VA writing standards
Support the development of topical reports and short analytical summaries as needed
Support development of training materials for virtual national field-based trainings, including slide decks, facilitator notes, participant materials, and follow-up resources
Assist with preparation of training recordings, post-training summaries, and supporting documentation
Coordinate with training leads to incorporate feedback, updates, and evolving program requirements
Collaborate with program staff, subject matter experts, and project management teams to ensure communications products accurately reflect current policy and program direction
Track deliverables and ensure products are completed on schedule and in accordance with quality standards
Ensure all deliverables meet Section 508 accessibility requirements and VA ICT standards
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Public Affairs, Health Administration, or a related field
Minimum of four (4) years of professional experience developing communications products such as briefings, written materials, or training documentation
Demonstrated experience creating audience-appropriate presentations and written products for complex programs or organizations
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, particularly PowerPoint and Word
Ability to manage multiple deliverables and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Highly energetic and proactive worker who consistently follows through, moves fast, and keeps stakeholders informed
Positive, solutions-oriented attitude with strong customer service mindset
Team-first attitude and proven dependability, with strong organization skills and an eye for the details
Ability to successfully pass a background check and receive a government clearance
Preferred
Experience supporting federal programs, healthcare programs, or large-scale service delivery initiatives
Familiarity with Veterans Health Administration (VHA) programs, caregiver support, long-term services and supports (LTSS), or home- and community-based services
Experience supporting virtual training delivery or national-level communications
Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility standards and compliant document formatting
