Engineering Supervisor (Night)
Cornerstone Recruiting is seeking an experienced, licensed, and highly motivated Supervising Engineer to lead their engineering staff. This role is crucial for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all complex mechanical and building systems, particularly in maintaining optimal environmental conditions for occupant comfort and museum conservation.

Responsibilities
Expertly operate, monitor, and maintain all critical HVAC systems (boilers, chillers, air handlers, pumps) for maximum efficiency and safety
Oversee and optimize the Building Automation System (Client) for energy efficiency and crucial museum conservation conditions. Train staff and troubleshoot complex Client functions
Promptly troubleshoot and repair equipment failures, alarms, and emergency issues
Recommend and implement system upgrades to maintain compliance and peak performance
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of four (4) direct reports, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
Conduct performance reviews, assign workloads, and coordinate with Supervising Engineers to ensure consistent operational standards and shift coverage
Champion a safe work environment and identify key professional development opportunities for the team
Act as the primary manager for third-party contracted work (PM, repairs, installations)
Coordinate scheduling and access to minimize disruption to the complex
Assist the Assistant Chief Engineer in the successful development and execution of capital projects
Manage the departmental budget for supplies, maintenance, and contract services
Oversee CMMS workflow, procurement, reporting, and ensure all necessary permits/certifications are current
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma/GED plus completion of an Apprenticeship or Technical degree
Minimum 4+ years progressive building systems experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory/management role
3rd Class DC Stationary Engineers License (REQUIRED)
CFC Universal Certification (REQUIRED)
Extensive practical experience with Client manipulation, CMMS familiarity, and a comprehensive understanding of all core building systems
Strong leadership
Excellent written/oral communication
Proven contractor management skills
Ability to interact with diverse stakeholders (diplomacy and tact)
Preferred
Experience in a museum or cultural institution setting
Journeyman licensure in a building trade
Industry-specific certifications
