Provide practical, actionable guidance on compliance with U.S. import and export regulations
Focus on the BIS Connected Vehicles Rule and related trade compliance responsibilities
Own trade compliance work largely independently
Build and implement internal compliance policies and programs
Advise on product and technology classification
Partner closely with engineering and procurement to identify and mitigate compliance risks early in the product lifecycle
Qualification
Required
At least 5 years of combined law firm and in-house experience focused on export controls and trade compliance
Experience providing practical, actionable guidance on compliance with U.S. import and export regulations
Strong emphasis on the BIS Connected Vehicles Rule
Ability to interpret and apply evolving regulations
Ability to translate complex legal requirements into clear, business-ready guidance
Strong judgment and independence
Ability to thrive in a high-expectations, highly collaborative environment
Preferred
Candidates based in the Midwest or Southeast
Willingness to travel to Michigan or California occasionally
