Responsibilities
Define and execute the enterprise IT documentation strategy aligned to organizational standards and business objectives
Establish and enforce documentation frameworks, templates, style guides, and quality standards
Drive continuous improvement of documentation processes, tools, and workflows
Produce high-quality technical documentation including system guides, SOPs, runbooks, API documentation, architecture overviews, and training materials
Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and audience-appropriate content
Ensure documentation supports onboarding, operational readiness, audit readiness, and knowledge retention
Lead, mentor, and coach a team of technical writers, providing feedback, guidance, and professional development
Conduct content reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to standards
Support workload prioritization, delivery timelines, and performance expectations
Partner with engineering, IT, cybersecurity, product, operations, and training teams to gather requirements and validate content
Act as the primary documentation liaison for large initiatives and cross-functional programs
Facilitate alignment between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
Implement documentation governance practices, including version control, approval workflows, and lifecycle management
Ensure documentation meets regulatory, security, and compliance requirements where applicable
Track documentation metrics and report on coverage, quality, and adoption
Qualification
Required
7+ years of experience in technical writing within IT, software, infrastructure, or engineering environments
2+ years of experience leading or mentoring technical writers
Proven ability to document complex systems, processes, and technical architectures
Strong understanding of IT concepts (e.g., applications, infrastructure, cloud, SDLC, DevOps, cybersecurity)
Experience developing and enforcing documentation standards and governance models
Exceptional written communication, editing, and content organization skills
Preferred
Experience supporting enterprise IT, cloud platforms, or large-scale technology transformations
Familiarity with Agile, SAFe, or DevOps delivery models
Experience with documentation tools such as Confluence, SharePoint, Git-based documentation, MadCap Flare, or similar platforms
Background in training enablement, onboarding documentation, or knowledge management
Experience working in regulated environments (financial services, healthcare, energy, government)
