Pearster is hiring a Senior Java API Developer on behalf of a leading fintech company in Canada. The role involves designing, developing, and implementing software solutions critical to business operations while following best practices and agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with others to design, develop, and implement solutions critical to Moneris business operations

Participate in the architecture, design, and implementation of complex software, demonstrating knowledge of software development best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, source control management, build processes, testing, and operation

Conduct research and development activities to advance platform technology

Work closely with Infrastructure Architecture and Operations, Security, Development, and Business units, ensuring delivery of large-scale projects using agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)

Operationalize technologies, establish technology roadmaps, and promote the adoption of standards and processes

Participate in agile technology projects, create user stories, and actively contribute to ceremonies such as daily stand-ups and weekly replenishment

Drive the migration and deployment of containerized applications in private and public clouds (Azure)

Provide guidance and support for escalated incidents and problems

Support and operationalize technology standards, processes, and policies related to systems and cloud

Required

Fluent in English

At least 5 years of hands-on experience in Java

Hands-on experience with Azure or AWS or GCP

Familiarity with software design patterns and best practices

Team player with strong technical communication skills

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience in a technology or business environment

Proficiency in payment systems and the merchant acquiring business is an asset

Proficiency in implementing and using Infrastructure as Code and Configuration Management (Ansible, Terraform)

Hands-on experience implementing and managing Cloud Infrastructure and Application Monitoring/Logging solutions (Dynatrace, DataDog, Splunk, New Relic)

API Management platforms (Azure APIM, API Gateway)

Hands-on experience implementing and managing Containers as a Service (CaaS) solutions like Kubernetes/Docker on private and public Cloud Platforms

Practical experience working within an agile methodology (Scrum/Kanban)
