Responsibilities

Manages large and complex merchandise categories

Collaborates with planner and replenisher/allocator to meet plan

Manages vendor performance to maximize profitability and achieve financial objectives

Analyzes current category and industry trends, sales data and economic conditions to anticipate consumer buying patterns and develop annual and seasonal in-store and online category assortments

Ensures competitive pricing and exit strategies (regular, promo, clearance)

May participate in tabloid and promotion planning process to support alignment of in-store and online merchandise assortment

Identifies and recommends new products and business opportunities

Negotiates product availability, specifications, distribution, delivery and price

Provides guidance and resolution for customer purchase and satisfaction inquiries

Supervises the work of other buyers

Performs other duties as assigned
