Aftermarket Tooling Designer (Onsite)

Pratt & Whitney is working to transform the future of flight by designing, building, and servicing innovative engines. The Aftermarket Tooling Designer will be responsible for developing and managing production tooling to support repair processes, focusing on designing tools and tooling aids for production operations.

Responsibilities

Design and develop new tools, tooling, gauging, and other tooling aids to support production operations
Create designs and drawings using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software
Analize tooling performance and adjust designs accordingly to improve performance
Design tooling for CNC machining, turning, and additive manufacturing methods
Review technical manufacturing specifications to determine tooling requirements
Design for ergonomics when appropriate
Collaborate with team members to develop design solutions for production support
Evaluate tooling/gauge/aid performance to determine fitness for use and worthiness
Consult with outside engineering entities when required to resolve issues
Coordinates multiple design projects
Provide technical support and guidance to internal and external vendors during tooling fabrication
Analyze process data in support of continuous improvement

Required

Minimum of 10 years of tooling design experience
10 years of experience using Siemens NX CAD software
5 years of experience using TeamCenter PLM
U.S. citizenship is required for this position; only U.S. citizens are authorized to access and handle sensitive data required to support our government and military programs

Preferred

Aerospace Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) / FAA Repair Station experience
Degree in STEM field; Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering fields preferred
Experience creating manufacturing drawings and/or 3D model annotation
Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, experience with Kaizen events or experience with a continuous improvement program (6s, etc.)
Experience working with CAD assemblies
Good understanding of Engineering Drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
Strong analytical skills using appropriate logic and reasoning for design solutions
Experience conducting design reviews
Strong communication and teamwork skills and ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency with Microsoft O365 suite
