Responsibilities

Design, build, and enhance data pipelines, architectures, and datasets to meet business needs
Develop and implement complex data models, management systems, and storage/streaming solutions that support distributed, real-time, and fault-tolerant processing
Write efficient code and advanced queries (including subqueries and window functions) for data processing and analysis
Build detailed use cases and gather business and technical requirements to guide engineering solutions
Establish data architecture standards, including schema design, metadata strategy, and integration best practices
Support data governance by cataloging enterprise data assets, ensuring discoverability, quality, lineage tracking, and compliance with zero-trust and security policies
Partner with stakeholders to enforce cataloging, tagging, and classification standards across structured and unstructured sources

Required

3+ years of related experience in data engineering, stakeholder requirements gathering, and data visualization/storytelling
Must have experience with three (3) or more of the following: Maven/Palantir (Foundry or MSS), Advana, SQL, Python, Spark, Qlik, Databricks
Active Secret clearance or higher required
Experience designing and supporting secure, compliant, and discoverable data architectures
Experience translating stakeholder requirements into actionable use cases and data engineering solutions
This is an on-site position at Norfolk Naval Base; must be able to work on-site with minimal exceptions

Preferred

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Experience with Scala, Java, R, Go, or C++; Bash or PowerShell; enterprise data cataloging tools (Collibra, AWS Glue, Unity Catalog); AI/ML platforms (SageMaker, Palantir AIP, DataRobot); and cloud-based data platforms and modernization efforts
Exposure to data governance, preferably within federal or defense environments
