Gather Health is a Series B healthcare company reimagining primary care for older adults. They are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to build and manage the cloud infrastructure that powers Gather’s next-generation data platform, ensuring it is resilient, secure, and cost-efficient.

Responsibilities

Architect & Build Cloud Infrastructure: Design, deploy, and own Gather’s data platform infrastructure on GCP using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform)

Implement & Manage Security: Own the platform’s security posture, implementing IAM roles, VPCs, encryption, and monitoring for full HIPAA compliance

Enable Observability: Build monitoring, logging, and alerting across all platform services (Stackdriver, Grafana, etc.) to ensure reliability

Establish CI/CD Pipelines: Develop and maintain CI/CD workflows for dbt, Dagster, and Cloud Run services using tools like GitHub Actions or GitLab CI

Manage Core Ingestion Services: Deploy and operate BigQuery Data Transfer (AthenaOne Snowflake Share) and Cloud Run webhook services for real-time data ingestion

Optimize Performance & Cost: Monitor and tune BigQuery performance (slots, clustering, partitioning) for efficiency

Collaborate Closely: Work with the Lead Engineer to align infra design with data architecture, and support the Pipelines Engineer to ensure ingestion readiness

Preferred

5–8+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, SRE, or data platform engineering

Deep expertise in GCP (BigQuery, GCS, IAM, Cloud Run, networking) and Terraform

Proficiency with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and CI/CD tools

Experience with healthcare or other regulated (HIPAA, SOC2) environments is a strong plus

Familiarity with dbt, Dagster, and modern data pipelines preferred
