Plan and facilitate small-group reading workshops for K-2 students, ensuring phonics instruction is enjoyable, interactive, and tailored to individual needs
Adjust teaching approaches in the moment based on student responses, reading proficiency levels, and attention indicators
Conduct motivational sessions with students to promote progress in adaptive literacy applications and support achievement of learning objectives
Track student performance data from adaptive platforms and apply insights to customize instruction for each group
Employ storytelling, humor, gaming references, and affirmative feedback to sustain student effort and address reluctance
Qualification
Required
Available to work on-site at NextGen Academy in Austin, TX
Bachelor's degree in elementary education, reading, or a related discipline
Certification in structured literacy methods such as Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, or comparable evidence-based phonics frameworks
2+ years of experience providing small-group reading instruction to K-2 students or learners facing reading challenges
Proven capacity to evaluate student reading abilities and develop differentiated instruction autonomously
Genuine interest in video games and gaming culture, whether or not you are a gamer personally
Authorized to work legally in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
