Responsibilities
Facilitating 1-hour outdoor life-skills workshops (public speaking, focus, leadership, teamwork) using nature-based challenges and adventure-style activities
Conducting brief, high-impact motivational sessions where you guide students toward academic targets using adaptive software
Animating curriculum through storytelling, customization, and creative delivery that maintains strong K-12 student engagement
Implementing safety protocols and outdoor risk management (route planning, weather monitoring, equipment checks, Leave No Trace principles) following Waypoint's field standards
Evaluating skill acquisition by having students demonstrate practical application of life skills in authentic scenarios
Maintaining rigorous standards of excellence while serving as an approachable, inspiring mentor students genuinely admire
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in any discipline
At least 3 years of experience working with K-12 students in educational, camp, coaching, or outdoor program settings
Documented history of high achievement (academic, athletic, or professional)
Strong public speaking abilities with capacity to energize and maintain attention from large student groups, both indoors and outdoors
Innate skill for connecting with K-12 learners, their interests, and culture—not as a peer but as a positive mentor who challenges them to develop
Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
Availability to work on-site at Waypoint Academy's campus in Dripping Springs, TX (near Austin)
Preferred
First aid or wilderness safety certification
