SEMI-SKILLED LABORER

City of Houston is seeking to fill a Semi-Skilled Laborer position for their Vegetation Management section. This role involves performing maintenance and repair tasks to support the upkeep of structures and facilities, operating tools, and assisting with various trade-related duties.

Responsibilities

Performing a variety of basic maintenance and repair tasks to support the upkeep of structures, facilities, and equipment
General housekeeping
Minor fabrication and installation work
Vehicle cleaning and servicing
Cement mixing and preparation to help maintain a safe and clean work environment
Operate a range of hand and power tools
Assist with tasks such as painting, roofing, carpentry, and other trade-related duties depending on the assigned area
Driving vehicles to and from job sites
Additional miscellaneous duties may be assigned as needed

Required

Ability to read, write, add, subtract, and follow oral and/or basic written instructions as might normally be acquired through 9 to 11 years of formal schooling
Six months of working experience are required
Must have a valid Texas Class C driver's license and comply with the City of Houston's policy on driving

Preferred

Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for
