Responsibilities
Responsible for the administrative/clerical support to the patient units
Being the primary contact on assigned unit
Completing an analysis of discharged records for quantitative and qualitative deficiencies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and timely processing of records
Responsible for patient labels and photo file maintenance
Maintenance of the unit binders to include filing of documents and/or updating of communication sheets
Providing EMR (Electronic Medical Record) support / assistance to treatment team members and other users as needed
Serving as the point of contact to request outside records for the healthcare team when requested
Follows the request until the records are received
Notifies the provider when the record is available
Responsible for submitting electronic supply requisitions per assigned schedule
Ensuring adequate supplies are maintained at the Unit Level
Entering patient data as assigned to Nursing Data Base
Scheduling and documenting patient’s appointments
Entering patient movements, leaves, returns, admissions and discharges in the Nursing Data Base
Calling Information Center and HIM to update patient movement
Working with HIM census clerk to assist with admission QC
Qualification
Required
High school graduate
Computer knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office
Knowledgeable of hospital services, record keeping and medical terminology
Experience in a clerical position or working with patients
Preferred
Advanced training in health technology or business administration tasks
Experience in a Health Information Management Department
Bilingual
Veteran and/or Veteran Spouse
