Responsibilities

Lead small-group project teams to propose, select, qualify, and test metals and composites for hyper-sonic projectiles and atmospheric re-entry vehicle applications

Perform Materials and Processes (M&P) technical engineering assignments

Troubleshoot problems and find innovative solutions

Prepare technical and progress reports on assigned tasks, prepare specifications, evaluate suppliers and analyze test reports

Engage regularly with internal engineering teams and external suppliers to meet program objectives

Coordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement

Preferred

Effective writing, communication, and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of Materials and Processes for aerospace product development, improvement, design, application, and production including soldering, PCBs, additive manufacturing, bonding, polymers, coatings and metals

Experience establishing and implementing technical requirements (specifications, program plans/requirements, etc.)

Knowledge of environmental and operational requirements for materials in space or missile applications (oxidation, thermal stress, radiation, etc)

Knowledge of laboratory material evaluation methods (mechanical, optical, surface chemistry, etc.)

Experience with root cause failure investigations and working with MRB teams

Project management experience. Leading project teams while also independently resolving issues related to manufacturing, development, and failure analysis

Development and characterization of new materials for aerospace applications

Experience participating in major program milestone reviews such as PDR and CDR

Active or Current Top Secret clearance
