Manulife is a leading international financial services provider, and they are seeking a Forester to join their team in Oregon. The role involves supporting forest management operations, including harvest unit design, logging contract administration, and environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities

Develop and sustain relationships with MFM staff, regulatory agencies, and other partners
Participate with area and region staff in harvest operations, silviculture, transportation systems, and land records management
Harvest unit design and layout, boundary delineation, harvest system selection
Forest Road Inventory Assessment support including data collection, GIS analysis, and reporting
Perennial stream surveys and reporting
Logging contract administration, including bidding or negotiating onboard truck pricing
Development of harvesting budgets and forecasts
Assist with silviculture activities including planting, precommercial thinning, competing vegetation control, insect, animal and disease damage control, etc
Environmental stewardship including Oregon Forest Practices Act and SFI compliance
Stewardship of people, including development, implementation, and leadership in support of the MFM safety principles
Support acquisitions, client relations, Accounting, etc
Other duties as assigned

Required

Strong organizational skills
Knowledge of Microsoft computer software, with emphasis in Excel and Word along with Outlook or similar e-mail program
Knowledgeable in GIS, primarily ArcGIS
Highly motivated and entrepreneurial
Strong oral and written communication skills
In depth working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations
Occasional overnight travel to other locations in western Oregon or outside the region

Preferred

A bachelor's degree in Forest Management or Forest Engineering preferred, other related fields will be considered
