The Product Engineer will be responsible for building new features and internal APIs, working closely with sales and support teams, and participating in product development discussions to shape the product effectively.

Responsibilities
Build new features and internal APIs to create value for the suppliers and buyers on our network
Work skewed towards backend development, but also work up and down the stack
Spend time with sales and support team and customers to figure out product details
Couple strong technical execution with active voice in shaping the product
Participate in different styles of execution based on the stage of product development
Iterate quickly on experiments with scrappy code to building sustainable systems
Build the company with fellow Wholesailers, focusing on values and team building
Build empathy for users and understand how a product works and fits into a complex system
Estimate and prioritize proposed solutions to guide impactful product building
Strive to quickly deliver value through rapid product validation cycles
Use data to guide understanding of user behavior and inform decisions
Take end-to-end ownership of work and share product ideas/opinions
Build empathy and relationships with strong communication skills
Qualification
Required
Strong technical execution skills
Experience in backend development
Ability to work up and down the stack
Experience collaborating with sales and support teams
Ability to participate in product conversations and identify product/technical tradeoffs
Experience with rapid product validation cycles
Ability to use data to guide understanding of user behavior
Strong listening, written, and verbal communication skills
Experience with Java services running in Kubernetes
Familiarity with PostgreSQL as a database
Experience with React-Native single page applications
Understanding of security, reliability, and system performance in engineering practices
Experience with test-driven development and continuous deployment
Preferred
Curiosity about understanding the 'why?' behind product decisions
Ability to build empathy for users
Experience in the food and payments industries
Ability to quickly build intuition in new domains
Experience estimating and prioritizing solutions
Ability to strive for end-to-end ownership of work
Experience building relationships with non-engineering colleagues
