JEM International, Inc. is seeking a talented and highly detailed Home Packaging Designer to create packaging from scratch across various home product categories. The ideal candidate will design retail-ready packaging and collaborate with product development, sourcing, and sales teams to ensure brand consistency and quality standards.

Responsibilities

Design packaging from concept to production including:
Boxes (folding cartons / window cartons)
Hang tags
Belly bands
Labels, stickers, wraps
PDQ / shelf packaging
Inserts, instruction sheets, care cards
Create packaging using:
Accurate dielines
Die cuts / window cutouts
Score & fold layouts
Bleed/safe zones/barcode placement
Produce packaging layouts that are ready for:
Mass retail & off-price retail standards (Target, Walmart, TJX, Ross, etc.)
Factory print production
Build packaging systems that match brand guidelines:
Consistent typography, icons, color palettes
Logo use, brand look & feel
Multiple product lines under one collection
Create clean mockups and realistic packaging visuals using:
Live product photography
Lifestyle imagery
Retail-style packaging renders
Create artwork files in organized, factory-friendly formats:
Proper layers, linked images, outlined fonts, and print-ready exports
Collaborate with:
Product Development / Merchandising
Sales team (presentations + buyer decks)
Overseas vendors & packaging factories

Qualification

Packaging design experienceAdobe IllustratorPrint packaging knowledgePhotoshopInDesignPackaging systems designDetail-orientedCollaboration skillsOrganizational skills

Required

3+ years experience in packaging design (consumer goods preferred)
Strong experience designing: Boxes, hang tags, belly bands, labels
Packaging systems across multiple SKUs
Expert in: Adobe Illustrator (must)
Photoshop / InDesign strongly preferred
Excellent understanding of print packaging: CMYK, spot colors / Pantone
Bleeds, barcodes, legal copy, product callouts
Packaging hierarchy (front panel / side panels)
Ability to create packaging layouts: From scratch (not just template editing)
Highly organized and detail-oriented: Naming, file structure, packaging revisions, version control

Preferred

Experience with: Off-price packaging strategy (cost-friendly packaging, tag systems, minimal-color printing)
Mass retail design standards
Packaging mockups (3D renders / Illustrator mockups)
Photography cleanup + compositing
Knowledge of packaging materials: Kraft, SBS, corrugated
Blister cards, PET windows, polybag labels
