DOLA - Temporary Aide (Building Codes & Standards)

The Colorado Department of Local Affairs is dedicated to strengthening local communities in Colorado. The Temporary Aide will assist in managing and operating programs related to building codes and standards, focusing on housing opportunities and regulatory compliance.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Provide technical and professional programmatic support
Conduct studies to analyze program issues
Research and review records and reports to verify details, monitor work activities and evaluate program performance
Resolve problems and answer questions
Meet with and advise others in the resolution of conflicts and interpretation of rules, regulations, policies and processes
Prepare reports, memos, letters, financial statements and other documents
Monitor budget, track expenditures and order supplies
Receive and record written complaints, detailing important information
Interview and investigate complaints and recommend the appropriate course of action for resolution
Communicate with stakeholders to include manufacturer, dealer, inspector and/or installer
Notify inspectors when inspections are needed. Provide copies of inspection report to stakeholders
Register all sellers of manufactured homes for the State of Colorado
Gather and review registration submittals for accuracy and correctness. Coordinate completion if information is missing
Process registration packages and inspection reports. Track registration status of manufacturers

Required

Two (2) years of experience supporting a program that serves stakeholders, customers and/or applicants. Program support experience includes reviewing and processing customer applications, gathering relevant information, reviewing documents for regulatory compliance, providing technical assistance, preparing tracking tools, and/or other relevant program-related support
Ability to create accessible documents and technical content that follows plain language guidelines with accessibility in mind
Ability to work in a team environment using remote meeting applications (Google Meet, Zoom, etc.)
Ability to provide technical assistance
Effective organizational skills
Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders
Excellent interpersonal skills
Strong attention to detail
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize and organize work to accommodate and meet the changing needs of the Department and meet deadlines
Ability to multi-task and stay focused
Proficiency with MS Office suite and Google suite
Ability to work independently

Preferred

Proficiency with databases and spreadsheets, including the ability to run reports from these systems
Strong customer service skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with challenging customers
Experience in housing programs or other public assistance programs
Experience interpreting rules and regulations
