Responsibilities

Lead High-Impact Ergonomics Consultations
You Will Conduct Full-scale, On-site Ergonomics Evaluations In Response To Employer Requests, Identifying WMSD Risk Factors And Developing Practical, Feasible Solutions. Your Work Will Directly Support Safer Workplaces By
Evaluating entire worksites or job tasks for ergonomic hazards
Analyzing workers’ compensation and OSHA recordkeeping data
Using objective analysis tools, measurements, observations, photos, and video
Researching and recommending effective abatement strategies
Delivering clear, comprehensive consultation reports to employers
Supervise and Develop Professional Staff
As a supervisory Ergonomist, you will guide and support two Ergonomic consultants by
Assigning and prioritizing consultation requests
Reviewing reports for quality, accuracy, and timeliness
Coaching staff through ride-alongs, one-on-one meetings, and feedback
Supporting performance, professional growth, and accountability
Promote and Advance Ergonomics Services
You will serve as a visible ambassador for DOSH Consultation by
Delivering high-quality presentations, trainings, and workshops
Participating in conferences, webinars, and employer outreach events
Collaborating with safety, industrial hygiene, and risk management teams
Helping expand access to Ergonomic consultation across Washington
Shape Statewide Ergonomics Practice
You’ll collaborate with Ergonomists across L&I to strengthen and evolve consultation and assessment services, contributing to forums, workgroups, and knowledge-sharing initiatives that influence statewide practice

Required

A valid and unrestricted driver's license
Bachelor's degree in engineering, occupational safety and health, or related field and one year of workplace ergonomics experience with CEA (or equivalent)
Associate degree plus at least 80 hours of recent ergonomics continuing education and three years of workplace ergonomics experience
Three years of experience as an Ergonomist 3 or equivalent
Demonstrated expertise in identifying WMSD hazards and recommending solutions across many different industries
Experience evaluating and advising on Ergonomic programs
Strong communication skills for written reports, presentations, and stakeholder engagement
Ability to lead projects involving employers, employees, healthcare professionals, and agency partners
The ability to take action to learn and grow
The ability to take action to meet the needs of others

Preferred

Certification from recognized professional society at technician or above level (BCPE, ASSE, AIHA, APTA, etc.) desired
