Accounting Manager
Private Company is a well-established and growing general contracting firm specializing in commercial construction projects. They are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and strengthen internal controls while supporting strategic financial initiatives.

Responsibilities
Oversee daily accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll, job cost accounting, and general ledger maintenance
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP and construction industry standards (WIP schedules, percentage of completion, etc.)
Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure consistency across departments
Monitor project budgets, job cost reports, committed costs, and forecasting
Work closely with project managers to track budget-to-actual performance and address variances
Support monthly WIP analysis and reporting
Strengthen internal controls across accounting functions
Identify opportunities to streamline processes and automate workflows
Assist with policy development and implementation
Support cash flow forecasting and treasury activities
Assist with bank reconciliations, credit lines, bonding requirements, and lender compliance
Prepare year-end audit schedules and serve as a key contact for external auditors
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
Maintain records for insurance, subcontractor compliance, and lien releases
Assist with ERP and accounting system maintenance/improvements (e.g., Sage 300, Viewpoint, SAP)
Help implement software solutions to improve financial reporting and project integration
Supervise and mentor accounting staff
Serve as the Controller’s right hand in leading the accounting department
Support cross-functional communication across operations, project management, and leadership
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong understanding of GAAP, job cost accounting, WIP schedules, and construction financial operations
Proficiency in construction accounting systems (Sage 300, Viewpoint, SAP)
Strong Excel and financial analysis skills
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities
Ability to operate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Preferred
CPA preferred but not required
construction industry experience highly preferred
Experience working in a midsize general contractor (ideally $50M–$300M)
