Responsibilities

You will identify and resolve changing work situations which result in conflicts in work schedule
You will take necessary action to achieve cost and schedule commitments
You will conduct internal program, process and ship overhaul audits to identify quality problems and opportunities for improvements
You will conduct investigations of reported equipment/system failures to identify responsible parties

Required

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program

Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326

You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present
You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying quality assurance concepts, principles, and methodology to develop and implement an effective and economical shipyard quality assurance program
Experience to train and develop Mechanical Shop personnel, enhancing their skills and operational effectiveness through policies and procedures across engineering, planning, production, and administration
Experience providing analytical and investigative skills to identify and resolve operational and maintenance problems, conduct onsite inspections of failed systems, and facilitate clear communication between shipyard and ship personnel
Experience communicating knowledge of shipboard mechanical systems and work practices during overhaul and effectively collaborating with engineers, technicians, production managers, and military personnel on a technical level, particularly during product audits and failure analyses
Experience conducting detailed audits, investigations, and trend analyses of shipyard programs, processes, and products
