Responsibilities

You will demonstrate proper inspection methods. Leading by example
You will perform mechanical, piping and structural inspections on nuclear reactor plant, refueling and overhaul work
You will check inspections in progress and when finished to see whether the supervisors' instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines have been met
You will perform receipt inspections, pre-use inspections, and marking verification of naval nuclear material
You will ensure reactor grade cleanliness by performing surveillance inspections and final inspections prior to final system closures
You will perform in-process and acceptance weld joint inspections for nuclear welding and non-destructive tests (NDT)
You will independently initiate and authorize rejection of workmanship, components, materials, and procedures that do not meet specifications by preparing deficiency reports
You will maintain records of inspections performed, results of these inspections, and corrective action taken in accordance with local directives

Required

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program

This is a bargaining unit position
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present
This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible
