Responsibilities

Assists Hearing Officers in performing the less complex assignments related to the Wage Claim Adjudication process
Interprets and applies the rules and regulations of the Industrial Welfare Commission Orders and the California Labor Code to assess violations on liable employers in wage claim processing
Performs a wide variety of duties in the enforcement of wage and hour laws in the Wage Claim Adjudication (WCA) program in accordance with the mission of the Labor Commissioner's Office (LCO)

Required

Must be either reachable on an employment list, have transfer eligibility or have reinstatement eligibility
If using education to meet one of the patterns of the minimum qualifications, submit a copy of your degree or transcripts with your application package

Describe your experience assisting the public and providing customer service
Describe your experience working with computer applications in a work environment, creating lists, and running reports
Knowledge of State and related Federal labor laws; orders of the Industrial Welfare Commission; principles, practices, and terminology of labor relations work
Skill of active listening and fact-gathering in order to achieve comprehensive investigation
Skill of organization and time management in order to prioritize multiple cases and assignments
Skill of decision-making and problem-solving skills in order to investigate cases effectively and efficiently
Ability to interpret and apply State and related Federal labor laws, and orders of the Industrial Welfare Commission
Ability to analyze testimony and other types of evidence and draw correct conclusions
Ability to deal tactfully, effectively, and impartially with employers
Ability to conduct difficult and involved investigations of alleged violations of labor laws and Industrial Welfare Commission orders
Ability to analyze situations accurately and take effective action
Ability to analyze data and communicate effectively
