The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is dedicated to protecting the health and safety of its citizens and environment. They are seeking a Civil Engineer Trainee to perform engineering duties in the design, construction, inspection, and maintenance of flood control projects, while supervising Environmental Projects Construction Inspectors.

Responsibilities

Perform various engineering duties in the design, construction, inspection and maintenance of flood control projects
Serve as a project engineer and ensure contractors and DEP inspectors complete work in accordance with established agreements
Supervise wage and salaried Environmental Projects Construction Inspectors depending on the size of the construction project
Work is assigned by a Construction Inspector Manager who reviews inspection activities, and engineering activities are supervised by Civil Engineer Manager
Participate in a one-year formal and on-the-job training program to learn the duties of a Civil Engineer Supervisor

Civil engineering experienceEngineer-in-Training certificateBachelor's degree in civil engineeringSupervisory skillsCommunication skills

Required

One year of civil engineering experience and a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related field that includes or is supplemented by major coursework in civil engineering
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree
This position also requires possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension
You must be able to perform essential job functions
