The Career Advisor I role is an entry-level consultative position that administers policies, provides guidance, and advocates for job seekers, while delivering various employment services and collaborating with workforce partners.

Responsibilities
Administers DWS policies and rules
Provides guidance and assistance
Advocates employment for job seekers within the business community
Delivers employment services
Job training
Limited unemployment insurance services
Labor market information to customers and employers
Plans, promotes, reviews and evaluates services
Supports job seekers through assessments, referrals, job development, placement, career development assistance and connections to supportive services
Conducts interviews
Enters information into databases
Researches job orders
Takes job listings from businesses by phone or in person
Cross-trains in Career Center services
Conducts Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessments (RESEA)
Collaborates with workforce partners in an Integrated Services Delivery (ISD) environment to ensure effective service delivery
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution with related experience in human resource administration, case management, job development and placement, employment counseling, vocational guidance and counseling, social work, vocational rehabilitation, claims analysis, or related public contact work dealing with job applicants and employers in a variety of functions
Associate degree and two years of experience in human resource administration, case management, job development and placement, employment counseling, vocational guidance and counseling, social work, vocational rehabilitation, claims analysis, or related public contact work dealing with job applicants and employers in a variety of functions
Ability to learn methods to provide employer/jobseeker counseling, teach interview skills/techniques, or to match applicant skills to job openings
Ability to interpret program guidelines, review data, conduct problem solving activities, and prepare written documentation
Ability to use or learn to use computer software applications to manage daily tasks, record program activities, and access program data
Ability to learn customer service activities in accordance with agency standards
Ability to communicate orally or in writing to a variety of audiences
