The role involves designing and developing high-performance transformer systems aligned with industry standards and working on critical infrastructure that powers homes and cities across North America.

Responsibilities
Design transformer tanks, lifting features, core-coil assemblies, and cooling systems
Create detailed 3D CAD models, BOMs, and manufacturing drawings (AutoCAD, SolidEdge, etc.)
Conduct thermal analysis, structural calculations, and tolerance stack-ups
Optimize layouts for bushing locations, terminal clearances, and system interfaces
Interpret and apply IEEE, CSA, ANSI, and ASTM standards
Participate in certification testing: pressure/vacuum, dielectric, arc-fault, thermal validation
Drive root cause investigations and continuous improvement
Work cross-functionally with manufacturing, test, and quality teams
Provide design support for weld specs, material selection, and production tooling
Contribute to process optimization initiatives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Proficiency in 3D CAD, FEA, and simulation tools
Knowledge of relevant standards: IEEE, CSA, ANSI, ASTM
Understanding of transformer operating principles, structural mechanics, and thermal systems
Preferred
Experience designing electrical distribution equipment or transformers
