Responsibilities

Serves as the Senior System Administrator, USAFWC SAP ISSO and expert IT cybersecurity specialist responsible for advising the USAFWC ISSM, PSO, GSSOs, wing-level leadership and ISSMs/ISSOs, and other key stakeholders on the ongoing cybersecurity posture and risk levels of all IT systems, programs, and process for the USAFWC enterprise
Provides technical guidance, instruction, training to users, and other IT specialists
Serves as the Senior System Administrator Advisor to leadership. Participates as key member and advisor on special committees and special projects (e.g. studies methods to enhance information technology throughout installation and enterprise)
Maintains liaison with manufacturers, professional organizations, and counterparts at other installations and services regarding available products and state-of-the-art technologies and advancements

Only open to current Air Force civilian employees
This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing
This position may require frequent travel or long periods away from the normal duty station to include CONUS or overseas and may include remote or isolated sites
The incumbent will be required to drive to other installations to attend meetings and conferences. A valid driver's license is required for the position
The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours and tours of duty such as overtime, weekends, callback, uncommon tour of duty, holidays, etc
This position is emergency essential. In the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent, or designated alternate, must continue to perform the Emergency-Essential duties until relieved by proper authority
Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position
Cybersecurity education, training, and certifications are a condition of employment. This position includes cybersecurity work as a paramount duty requirement
The physical requirements of this position as determined by the manager are: physical exertion such as long periods of standing; or recurring activities such as bending, climbing, stooping, stretching, reaching; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items
Must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the following four competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving AND have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-11) or equivalent in other pay systems
Knowledge of wide range of principles, methods, practices for integrating information system components, the latest advancements in technology to resolve unusual and difficult issues sufficient to plan, coordinate, and administer computer systems, and optimize system performance
Knowledge of performance tuning tools, database management, and project management methods sufficient to optimize systems performance, troubleshoot performance problems, and perform a wide range of systems administration functions
Knowledge of operating systems, associated devices, and the interoperability of systems sufficient to install, upgrade, troubleshoot, test, and maintain those systems; to optimize the functionality and performance of systems; and to ensure the availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of servers
Knowledge of personnel management policies, practices, regulations, and procedures to adjust work operations to meet emergencies; change of program or production safety, and security requirements within available resources and with minimum sacrifice of quantity or quality of work; and establish program objectives or performance goals and access progress toward their achievement
Skilled in developing interpersonal relationships, maintaining working relations, planning, organizing, reprioritizing work to meet changing deadlines, developing and conducting training to ensure proper maintenance of assigned system and equipment; making recommendations to senior leadership or maintenance technicians and communicate orally and in writing
Ability to apply methods and practices for troubleshooting, recovering, adjusting, modifying, and improving systems to solve complex problems, provide support that minimizes interruptions in service to customers, and maintain liaison with industry and other activities to provide awareness of state of the art technology
