Accountant II - Police Department
City of Phoenix is dedicated to fostering strong community relationships through its Police Department. They are seeking an Accountant II to perform various municipal accounting functions, including analyzing financial resources, developing accounting policies, and managing vendor contracts.

Responsibilities
Perform accounting theory, principles, and practices and their application to various municipal accounting transactions and problems
Analyzing and monitoring the use of financial resources
Assisting in the design and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal control systems
Liquidation of Purchase Orders
Reviewing and maintaining financial reports
Processing payments
Performing journal entries
Conducting research on contracted City vendors payments
Collecting, evaluating, and analyzing data
Managing vendor contracts
Writing reports, and other correspondence
Qualification
Required
Three years of professional level experience in accounting
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted
All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position
Positions in the Police Department must meet the background standards that are appropriate to non-sworn positions
Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business
Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record
Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage
Proven proficiency in financial software and spreadsheets, such as Microsoft Excel and SAP
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail
Well-developed competencies in complex decision making, effective communication, personal and interpersonal skills, and managing projects
Ability to efficiently manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment and be able to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred
Working with state/federal grant-funded programs
With budgets, financial analysis, and/or cost and fee analysis
Creating financial reports
With accounts receivable and payable
