Instructor, Paralegal - Part-time
Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is Wisconsin's largest and most diverse technical college, offering a variety of programs to connect students to careers. They are seeking a part-time Instructor for the Paralegal program who will prepare and deliver instruction, manage classroom environments, and develop curriculum while supporting student academic growth.

Responsibilities
Prepare and deliver engaging instruction in accordance with established curriculum guidelines
Manage classroom/laboratory environments to ensure a conducive learning atmosphere
Develop, monitor, and revise curriculum to maintain course effectiveness and relevance
Manage equipment, supplies, and materials necessary for instructional activities
Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback to support their academic growth
Advises students on academic matters and provides guidance to support their educational journey
Collaborate with advisory committees, colleagues, and industry partners to enhance program effectiveness
Attend departmental and institutional meetings to contribute to academic planning and decision-making
Promote educational programs, participate in student recruitment efforts, and support initiatives to retain students
Support student organizations and activities to enrich their educational experience
Develop and maintain relationships with business and industry partners to facilitate student opportunities and program growth
Complete program evaluations, engage in continuous professional development, and stay current in the field
Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall mission and objectives of the institution
Qualification
Required
Master's Degree in Paralegal Studies
Must have a Master's degree in one of the following: Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an ABA accredited law school
Must have a minimum of three (3) years full-time or equivalent (6,000 hours) work experience as an Attorney or Paralegal
One year (2,000 hours) of related work experience as an attorney must have occurred within the last five years along with demonstrated experience working with a paralegal in a legal setting
Two (2) years of full-time equivalent teaching experience in a related area at post-secondary level within the last five years

Experience with an Email system (Gmail, Outlook)
Experience with a voice mail system

Experience with INFOnline or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters
Experience with Blackboard or other web-based course management systems
Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology
Experience with emerging technologies (eg. social networking applications)
Benefits
HEALTH INSURANCE: MATC offers a choice between two medical insurance plans. See below for plan types: 1- UMR High Level PPO 2- UMR Low Level PPO
DENTAL INSURANCE: MATC offers a traditional group dental plan through Delta Dental. Annual maximum per covered person is $2,500; plan covers preventive, routine, restoration, and orthodontics for dependents up to age 19.
GROUP TERM LIFE INSURANCE: MATC offers group life insurance benefits through Symetra Provident Insurance with active assignment and is fully paid for by the College. The amount of insurance is $15,000. The benefit is doubled in the event of accidental death.
RETIREMENT BENEFITS: If you are employed for greater than 12 months and meet the minimum hours requirement for participation in the WRS pension system, you will be notified of your eligibility. The College currently pays the full cost of the employer contribution (6.9%), and the employee pays the full part of the employee contribution of 6.9% of salary. There is a five year vesting period requirement in order to qualify for any employer contributions made on the employee's behalf.
FLEXIBLE SPENDING PLANS: MATC offers eligible employees the opportunity to participate in both Health Care and Dependent Care flexible spending accounts administered through UMR.
SICK LEAVE BENEFITS: Sick leave is earned based on one times the weekly workload per semester. The maximum hours accumulation is 640 hours.
VACATION BENEFITS: Vacation is earned based on the length of service and hours worked each pay period. (Not available for Instructors)
PAID HOLIDAYS: MATC offers paid/flex holidays based on position.
