Network Development Engineer Apprentice, , AWS Opportunity for Veterans
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking individuals for their Network Development Engineer Apprentice program, aimed at U.S. veterans. Responsibilities
Drive the stability and sustainability of next-generation IP networks that support the U.S. Intelligence Community
Work with Network Engineers to deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes
Partner with the broader Infrastructure organization on configuration standards and tools
Collaborate with Systems and Software Engineers to ensure fast, smooth roll-out of new designs and products
Deploy and sustain networking software tools
Qualification
Required
Graduate of the approved Amazon pre-apprenticeship training program with TLG with a conferral date on or after 6/1/24 OR 4+ years of equivalent experience in a network focused hands-on technical role working with routing protocols/technologies and platforms and/or WAN network environments OR a relevant networking related bachelor's degree or higher in a related technical discipline with a graduation date between May 2023 - September 2025 or graduated within the last 24 months
Must be willing to support an off-hours operations escalation pager rotation
Experience dealing with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
The ability to sit in front of computer during scheduled work hours with appropriate breaks while maintaining a high level of alertness and attention to detail
Travel to data center/network sites and Amazon/customer offices as needed
This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph
Preferred
Experience in a technical on-call capacity, responding to customer impacting events, mitigating and root cause analysis of those events, and experience developing engineering, deployment, or operations mechanisms to support IP network and/or networking systems
Thorough understanding of TCP/IP networking, IP routing, Server Load Balancing, and Network Security architecture and core technologies such as IP, TCP, OSPF/IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, Server Load Balancers, Firewalls, ACLs, DNS, DHCP, IPAM, LDAP, NFS, etc
Strong desire to build, ability to multitask, sense of ownership and urgency
Experience with Agile development methodologies and DevOps environments
Knowledge & experience of Linux or other Unix operating systems
Proficiency in scripting/programming with one or more of Python, Perl, Ruby, Shell, Java, etc
