Responsibilities
Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing based on established criteria
Perform routine and complex technical procedures according to department SOPs
Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments to ensure proper functionality
Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving as needed
Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls
Report accurate and timely test results to ensure quality patient care
Perform preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
Maintain testing bench supplies and assist with specimen processing when required
Ensure a safe work environment and follow PPE requirements
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
MLT Associates degree accepted
Minimum of 2-4 years of clinical laboratory testing experience
Blood Bank experience required
State Medical Technologist license may be required (as per local regulations)
Proficiency in laboratory procedures and instrument troubleshooting
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Preferred
ASCP certification preferred but not required
Familiarity with lab information systems is a plus
