Laboratory Research Technician IV

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Laboratory Research Technician IV to join their translational research team in the Khan Lab, which investigates mechanisms linking inflammation and carcinogenesis in colorectal cancer. Responsibilities

Perform and oversee molecular and cellular experiments, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, Western blotting, and ELISA
Conduct murine studies including genotyping, sample collection (colon, lymphoid organs), tissue processing, and histology preparation (FFPE, frozen)
Establish and maintain primary epithelial and immune cell cultures, including murine and human colonic organoids, and perform co-culture and drug treatment assays
Execute and assist with immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry
Assist in flow cytometry and single-cell RNA sequencing sample preparation
Maintain detailed electronic lab notebooks and organize experimental data for analysis and publication
Support the PI and trainees in data analysis, figure preparation, and manuscript writing
Manage laboratory inventory, ordering, and compliance with safety protocols; serve as lab safety liaison as needed
Train and mentor junior staff, students, or fellows in lab techniques

Required

Bachelor's Degree
3 years of experience
Experience in molecular biology, histology, and cell-based assays
Ability to manage complex workflows independently
Comfortable in both mouse and human tissue research settings
Perform and oversee molecular and cellular experiments, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, Western blotting, and ELISA
Conduct murine studies including genotyping, sample collection (colon, lymphoid organs), tissue processing, and histology preparation (FFPE, frozen)
