Responsibilities
Perform aeromechanical assessments in support of new engine design including modal analyses for frequency placement, forced response analysis and flutter assessments using finite element models (FEM) and/or unsteady computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis
Prepare for rig and engine tests. Define airfoil instrumentation such as strain gages and light probes. Process component test data from ping test, laser vibrometry and bench fatigue. Generate on-test vibration monitoring documentation and prepare test plans
Execute rig and engine tests safely across all test sites globally. Monitor airfoil vibrations real time and modify test plans as needed
Process dynamic strain gage and light probe data using dynamic signal processing methods. Summarize key responses and observations. Document results in certification reports
Support aeromechanical technology development projects including advanced fluid-structure interaction methods and HCF mitigation technologies
Prepare and present technical information to internal and external customers
Ensure proper documentation of aeromechanics design, analysis, and test data
Share engineering information, lessons learned, and promote open dialogue
Prepare invention disclosures for technology that provides a competitive advantage
