Responsibilities
Prepare operating rooms by ensuring equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and functioning
Conduct preoperative patient assessments, verify surgical consents, allergies, and procedure details
Maintain and monitor aseptic and sterile technique throughout procedures
Serve as the circulating nurse, managing patient care and safety during surgery
Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, and transport
Coordinate and communicate with surgeons, anesthesia, and surgical team members
Perform and document surgical counts (sponges, instruments, needles) with the scrub tech
Monitor patient condition and respond to intraoperative emergencies as needed
Document all perioperative care accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)
Advocate for patient safety, dignity, and comfort at all times
Follow infection control, safety, and regulatory standards
Participate in on-call rotations, staff education, and quality improvement initiatives
Qualification
Required
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska
Basic Life Support (BLS) required
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required
OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED- Must have Ortho Experience and Neuro OR Experience (Level 1 or 2 experience)
Preferred
BSN preferred; ADN accepted
CNOR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
