RESEARCH SPECIALIST I
The University of Missouri-Columbia is seeking a Research Specialist I to support the Rat Resource and Research Center and Mutant Mouse Resource & Research Center. This role involves managing rodent colonies, performing surgical procedures, and participating in research initiatives.
Education
Responsibilities
Perform tasks related to rodent colony management, reproductive biology and gamete/embryo cryobiology
Manage mouse and rat breeding colonies
Conduct surgical procedures such as embryo transfer and vasectomy
Cryopreserve and recover sperm and embryos
Prepare media and hormones
Administer animal injections (mouse & rat)
Manipulate embryos such as microinjection and electroporation
Manage electronic data, including maintaining inventory and general record keeping
Participate in research projects aimed at improving Resource Center functions and procedures
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred
Mouse and rat handling experience
BA/BS in life sciences or animal science is preferred
Must possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail and be able to work individually and in a team setting
