Software Manager - Infrastructure
EVONA is a fast-growing technology startup building the world’s first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors. They are seeking a hands-on Software Engineering Manager for Infrastructure to build and lead a platform engineering function that will scale software infrastructure and developer tooling across the engineering organization.
Responsibilities
Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing platform engineering team focused on internal tools, compute infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and data processing systems
Partner with engineering leaders across multiple disciplines to identify infrastructure and tooling needs
Design and build infrastructure that supports high quality standards and real-time issue detection across engineering systems
Own the technical roadmap for developer productivity tooling, including:
CI/CD pipelines
Version control and artifact management
Build systems and developer environments
Testing frameworks and release processes
Architect and maintain platforms for real-time monitoring, digital twin visualization, and system analysis
Scale data processing infrastructure to support advanced simulation post-processing, visualization, and analytics
Promote engineering excellence through automation, best practices, and continuous improvement
Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent while fostering a high-performance team culture
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related engineering discipline
7+ years of professional software engineering experience in areas such as: Data infrastructure, Compute platforms, Developer tooling or platform engineering
2+ years of people management or technical leadership experience
Strong programming experience in languages such as Python, Go, Rust, C#, or C/C++
Deep understanding of system design, algorithms, data structures, and distributed systems
Extensive experience with build systems, data pipelines, and infrastructure automation
Proficiency with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
Strong background in Linux systems and hybrid cloud/on-prem environments (e.g., AWS)
Solid foundation in software engineering best practices including version control, code review, testing, and CI/CD
Preferred
Experience working in highly regulated industries (e.g., aerospace, defense, automotive, nuclear, medical devices)
Background in simulation workflows, scientific computing, or computational modeling infrastructure
Hands-on experience with large-scale data processing technologies and platforms
Experience building distributed systems, databases, and backend APIs
Experience supporting hardware-in-the-loop or software-in-the-loop testing environments
Strong DevOps or reliability engineering background, including observability and monitoring tools
