They are seeking a Part-Time Development Associate to assist in fundraising efforts, collaborate with the Development Director, and manage donor relationships while supporting grant-related activities.
Political Organization
Responsibilities
Collaborate with NYSYLC’s Development Director to research grantmakers, track grant deliverables, communicate with donors, assist with networking, grant writing, and reporting, and manage our donor database
Meet with the Development Director weekly for training, progress updates, and co-planning next steps
Attend biweekly meetings with the Finance, Legal, and Operations team
Research grant opportunities
Update and maintain our grant tracking spreadsheets
Schedule, help prepare for, and join meetings with funders and funding prospects
Provide grant writing, grant reporting, and submission support (i.e. preparing grant applications and uploading/submitting them via online portals)
Prepare and send donor thank-you notes and other communications
Maintain and update our donor database
Research and support other revenue-generating activities as needed: fundraising events, paid services, etc
Qualification
Required
2 years or more working with youth, immigrants, community organizing, public policy, campaign building, political education or a related field
2+ years of relevant experience: in fundraising, grantwriting, research, sales, marketing, community organizing, storytelling, relationship-building, or similar
Skilled in verbal and written communication
Charismatic, enthusiastic, and welcoming
Project management skills
Creative, innovative, risk-taking, and willing to learn
Comfortable leading conversations with impacted members, program officers, and funders
Quick on their feet and receptive to learning and feedback
Able to use Google Suite and spreadsheets
Able to work independently on research tasks
Knowledgeable about NYC community and culture
Preferred
Knowledge of New York City, State and Federal political landscape
Knowledge of other community organizations and groups who work in social justice and/or immigrant rights around NY
Conflict resolution a plus
