Responsibilities

Using the Cryostat, section all human cancer tissues – C, TW, CT, T
Create/manufacture gel-coated slides – C, TW
Mix and prepare all staining compounds – C, TW, CT, T
Wash and clean all lab materials and equipment for OSHA compliance – C, TW
Pick up cancer tissue when they become available at PMC – C, TW
Perform hematoxylin and eosin staining on all human cancer tissue – C, TW, CT, T
Perform immunohistochemistry on all cancer tissues – C, TW, CT, T
Use a confocal microscope under supervision – C, P, CSD, TW, CT, T
Search, print, and read literature information regarding the type of cancer – C, TW, CT, T
Help write peer-reviewed publication(s) – C, TW, CT, T
Help supervise A&P and histology labs – C, P, CSD, TW, CT, T
Assist with and contribute to events hosted by departmental staff – C, TW, P
Contribute to departmental projects such as data analysis, web and social media development, and budgeting – CT, C, TW, T
Work independently and efficiently; use available resources to direct guests – CT, P
