Mechanisms Systems Engineer Sr - Lunar Permanence

Blue Origin is working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems for the benefit of Earth. The Mechanisms Systems Engineer Sr will be responsible for leading Systems Engineering tasks and delivering SE-related products for the Lunar Permanence business unit, directly collaborating with NASA and partners to develop lunar landers.

Responsibilities

Develop & manage Mechanisms specifications and requirements (at subsystem and component-levels)
Develop & manage Mechanisms interfaces, Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and models (in collaboration with adjacent IPTs)
Decompose requirements from system and subsystem-levels into lower-level requirements
Mentor early-career Mechanisms Systems Engineers on the Lunar Program
Standardize Mechanisms Systems Engineering approaches
Own the verification and validation of Mechanisms requirements, in collaboration with the Mechanisms test engineers
Perform traceability analysis of requirements to higher levels, and to verification activities
Lead trade studies across the Mechanisms IPT and with other IPTs
Serve as the Mechanisms point-of-contact for other IPTs
Utilize Systems Engineering tools such as Jama, Windchill and Cameo
Support and present at major gated reviews design reviews, readiness reviews, etc

Required

Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
Minimum 8 years of relevant Mechanisms Engineering or Systems Engineering experience on space missions
Strong understanding and application of Systems Engineering fundamentals in a few areas such as Requirements management, Verification, and/or Integration
Familiarity with common spacecraft mechanisms hardware
Strong understanding of aerospace hardware verification and validation process

Preferred

M.S. or PhD degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
Experience with Docking Systems
Familiar with NASA Systems Engineering process and standards
Experience solving a variety of mechanical problems demonstrating breadth in application
Expert in requirements management software such as Jama
