Optical Manufacturing Engineer III

They are seeking an Optical Manufacturing Engineer III to design and develop manufacturing processes for optical products, ensuring efficient transfer from research to manufacturing and troubleshooting production issues.

Responsibilities
Provide engineering support for various optical potting, assembly, and integration/alignment operations such as coating elements, stacking/assembly of optics, alignments, grinding, cleaning, or applying adhesives
Design, control, and improve the manufacturing process through collaboration with a multi-disciplined team
Implement manufacturing process control and performance monitoring
Create and oversee improvement projects
Translate engineering design requirements into manufacturing processes
Perform hardware defect analysis
Participate in corrective action investigations
Qualification
Required
Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
Experience with interpretation of technical documentation (i.e. Engineering drawings and specifications)
Experience with the creation of work instructions in a manufacturing environment
Experience with a shop floor management system (i.e. SAP, PRISM, ERP, MRP, or similar manufacturing software)
Experience with lean manufacturing and project execution
Experience working with Electro-Optical assemblies used in surveillance and reconnaissance systems
Due to programs and projects this position supports, U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Preferred
Experience with a shop floor management system (i.e. SAP, PRISM, ERP, MRP, or similar manufacturing software)
Clean room experience
Good dexterity skills required due to delicate handling of precision optical components
Follow oral and written instructions and have overall good communication skills
Familiar with Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint
Must be able to work independently within a team environment
Shift flexibility is critical
Team-oriented – actively participates and steps in for other commodities as needed
