Engineer III Broadband Architecture and Engineering
Uniti Group Inc. provides high-speed broadband Internet and telecommunication services. As a Broadband Engineer III, you will develop efficient network solutions and support engineering teams to enhance Uniti's broadband infrastructure.

Responsibilities
Develop and execute test plans for existing and new broadband equipment such as DSLAM/OLTs and ONT/ONU to support DSL and PON access methods
Work in a lab environment with equipment, not limited to configuration development, hardware evaluation, software evaluation, equipment installation
Occasional work with field operations teams may be necessary during new equipment rollouts
Work with BNG platforms to adjust configurations and/or develop new configurations
Analyze issues in a T3/T4 role from other engineering/operations teams related to the production broadband network
Research new equipment/vendors as needed based on business needs
Develop new network configurations and architecture using best practices as defined by the BBF and ITU
Evaluate EMS platforms related to access equipment and northbound/southbound protocols used in communication to network equipment
Communicate with other work groups, both technical and non-technical, to provide timely updates and pass on information in a clear and concise manner
Other duties as assigned to meet business and customer service requirements
Periodic travel may be required to work with equipment in specific locations during new deployment testing, travel of 10% or less
Qualification
Required
Thorough understanding of telecom industry concepts and terminology
Solid understanding of network engineering and design principles
Developed understanding and working knowledge of data networking, which includes experience with management networks, DSL, PON, Ethernet, IPv4/IPv6 technologies in large scale networks
Solid understanding of access network design principles including physical and logical topologies, uplink sizing, port capacity, and bandwidth management
Experience configuring network devices directly via CLI, SNMP, NETCONF and other management interfaces
Experience with various protocols used in Broadband services, including DHCP, OMCI, SIP, PPPoE, FTP, TFTP, SNMP, MGCP, etc
Experience with layer 2 best practices, such as MFF, domain sizing, traffic classification/prioritization, VLAN design/management
Experience with network platforms including DSLAM/OLT, BNG, ethernet switches, IP routers is essential
Preferred
Self-motivated with the ability to effectively prioritize, manage, and complete work assignments in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with minimal supervision
Previous DevOps experience utilizing scripting to directly query network devices, EMS platforms, or databases for data analysis/configuration adherence
Industry certifications, i.e. CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA, Nokia NRS
Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to summarize and present detailed information to technical and non-technical audiences
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to quickly understand requirements and identify appropriate solutions
Team-oriented and experienced at working in a collaborative environment Sensitivity: Internal
